Will Wagnon Introduced As New Hazel Green Head Coach

Munford's Will Wagnon is the new football coach at Hazel Green. Wagnon was introduced as the Trojans head coach Tuesday night.

In his five seasons at Munford, Wagnon led the Lions to 37 wins and three trips to the playoffs. His 2014 team gained a berth in the quarterfinal round and the 2013 squad reached the semifinals. Overall the Lions won six playoff games in their three appearances. In the previous 11 seasons, the Munford program recorded only one winning season and one state playoff berth.

In a press release, Hazel Green principal stated that Coach Wagnon is a rising star in the Alabama coaching rankings.

"He will be a great 7A coach just like his performances at Cherokee County and Munford. He has a great offensive mind and is a great fit for our community. Coach Wagnon is a great leader and has great character. He will be a great role model for our students and community. The Hazel Green community is excited to attract a coach of such quality.”

TV24 will pass along updates as the Lions now search for a new head coach.
