An event sponsored by the Gadsden Public Library to encourage residents in the city of Gadsden to learn more about their city’s part in Alabama’s civil rights movement took place on Saturday at the Memorial Bridge. Dozens of people participated in the the Gadsden Public Library Civil Rights Unity Walk which included singing and public speeches. Etowah- Gadsden Southern Christian Leadership Conference leaders say the march served to commemorate the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma and shine a light on America’s future.The Etowah-Gadsden Chapter of S-C-L-C will have a bus that will travel to the Edmund Pettus Bridge Crossing Jubilee Celebration on March 8th.
