A clerk at a grocery store accidently gives a lost wallet back to the wrong person and now authorities are in an active search for the wallet and the female who took it. According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin, the theft of the wallet took place at Mountain Top Grocery on February 27 at approximately 7:30 a.m. The victim paid for her items and accidentally left her wallet on the counter when she left. Inside the wallet was a substantial amount of money the victim had recently received from her income tax refund. Authorities believe the suspect was the next customer, a female wearing an ‘Alabama’ sweatshirt and blue jeans. She left on Highway 278 heading toward Attalla. The make and model of the car is unknown at this time. If anyone can help identify the female in this video, please contact Etowah County Sheriff’s Office. If the lady who took the wallet did so by mistake, she can turn it in to an Investigator at the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.
