State of Emergency
As this additional round of winter weather approaches, Governor Robert Bentley has – once again – issued a state of emergency. The declaration becomes effective at Midnight tonight and allows all government agencies to activate their emergency operation plans and to have the necessary personnel and equipment in place and on stand-by. The state of emergency also activates the state's price gouging law, which protects consumers from unnecessary and unethical price increases during the emergency event. The Governor also activated 250 National Guard members to assist and respond to emergency requests.
