A judge is refusing to move the trial of a northeast Alabama woman charged with capital murder in her granddaughter's death. Etowah County Circuit Judge Billy Ogletree issued a one-sentence order today denying a defense request to have Joyce Garrard's case relocated to another county. Jury selection wrapped up today and opening statements are set for Monday morning. Garrard is accused of forcing 9-year-old Savannah Hardin to run for hours in 2012 as punishment for telling a lie. Prosecutors say as a result, the girl collapsed and died 3 days later at a hospital. Garrard says she's innocent. The defense says she meant the girl no harm and are questioning the girl's previous health problems.
