Federal Ban on Medical Marijuana: U.S. Senate

Three senators unveil a bill today that, if passed, could end the federal ban on medical marijuana. Republican Rand Paul and Democrats Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand are sponsoring the measure. Currently, medical marijuana is legal in 23 states and the District of Columbia. The Washington Post reports the bill would make it easier to transport marijuana between states as well as broaden access to cannabis for research purchases.
