Career Fair: Calhoun County

The Gadsden State Community College Career Transitions program hosts its first Calhoun County Career Fair at the McClellan Center Auditorium, today.High school students visited 20 career booths representing 16 national career clusters.  The fair’s theme was Explore, Overcome, Achieve.  White Plains High School Junior Adam Hamilton says he plans to achieve in the field of engineering. Students attended a session that included a panel of professionals that spoke more in depth about their career and the steps they took to obtain it.  White Plains High School Junior Chase Chandler says today’s event will help her pursue the goal of becoming a social work counselor.  Because, she says she wants to make a difference. Gadsden State Community College Career Transitions Director Laura Swann says the school is committed to doing this event as part of their career coach program. More than 600 juniors, from participating high schools around the county attended the event.
