Sentencing for Joyce Garrard
The sentencing phase is underway for Joyce Garrard in Etowah County.A jury on Friday found Garrard guilty of capital murder for the death of her granddaughter. The sentencing phase began today with the prosecution calling witnesses. Savannah's mother took the stand and told jurors that Garrard doesn't deserve to live. Court is dismissed until Wednesday when the defense will begin presenting its case for a life sentence. The jury can recommend the death penalty or life in prison.
