$541 Million Tax Proposal

The Alabama Legislature returns from spring break tomorrow and Governor Robert Bentley is continuing to drum up support for his $541 million tax proposal.  Governor Bentley spent much of the last week making speeches across the saying he believes voters are beginning to understand the General Fund budget is a real problem that isn't going to go away without additional revenue.  Some lawmakers are responding negatively to Bentley’s ideas saying the proposed tobacco tax increase has the most favorable outlook.  But, they doubt that legislators would approve the 82-cents per pack increase Bentley is seeking.
