Calhoun County BOE Employee of the Month: Ohatchee

This month, the Calhoun County Board of Education recognizes a teacher who is not only driven to see all students excel, but also works diligently to help mentor fellow teachers.

Ms. Kina Teaford is an ACT Prep and Basic Skills teacher at Ohatchee High School and has taught within the Calhoun County Schools system for 24 years. Teaford says helping kids to be successful later in life is one of the reasons she is so dedicated to her profession. Teaford adds that kids have not changed that much over her 24 years of teaching. She says they still all just want love and attention. Ohatchee High School Principal Bobby Tittle says Teaford gives her student plenty of care. He’s worked with her for 3 years and says she is one of his most driven teachers. Calhoun County Schools Professional Development Specialist Jackie Williams has only worked with Teaford for a year, but she says she is an exceptional teacher and a person who makes her kids feel important. In addition to her everyday school duties, Teaford volunteers two or three times a week to help tutor kids in the area of ACT Prep. Her co-workers say the word of her expertise has grown and she helps kids from all over the County. They say that’s just one more very special thing she does for her students. Americas First Federal Credit Union sponsors the Employee of the Month for Calhoun County Schools. They provide a $200 gift certificate to each winner.
