Charged In Connection To Burglaries

Three residences and several chicken houses were broken into between February 9th and March 15th. Items valued at more than $16,000 were taken from owners. There was also a burglary of a hunting camper at which items valued at more than $6,000 were stolen. According to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, 37-year-old Grover Carter and 28-year-old Elsa Carter, both of Altoona have been arrested and charged in connection to the five burglaries on Old Gallant Road, Tumlin Gap Road, Silo Road, Terrell Road, and Unity Church Road. Carter and his wife are charged with two counts of Third Degree burglary. Grover Carter is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $17,500 bond. Elsa Carter was released on a $5,000 bond. Many items have been recovered but, much still remains missing.
