Alabama’s 2015 Farm of Distinction


A Marshall County grain, soybean and beef cattle business is named Alabama’s 2015 Farm of Distinction at the Alabama Farm-City Awards which took place April 2 in Birmingham. Rickey Cornutt of Cornutt Farms of Boaz and his wife were selected for the award from a field of four finalists across the state. As this year’s winner, Cornutt Farms received more than $12,000 in cash and prizes and will represent Alabama in the Swisher Sweets / Sunbelt Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year contest at the Sunbelt Ag Expo on October 20th through 22nd . The Cornutts’ prize package included a John Deere Gator from SunSouth, TriGreen and Snead Ag dealers. Today, Cornutt Farms covers more than 2,000 acres and includes 1,200 acres of corn, soybeans and wheat, 250-cow beef cows and 150 acres of hay.
