Governor Robert Bentley signs an Executive Order today creating the
Alabama Health Care Improvement Task Force. The task force will work on ways to improve the health of those living in the state, including ways to provide more-accessible and more-affordable health care in Alabama. The state ranks among the top 10 in the nation for rates of diabetes, obesity, along with cancer and cardiovascular-related deaths. State Health Officer, Dr. Don Williamson, will lead the task force. The panel has 38 representatives including physicians, nurses, dentists, mental health professionals, insurance companies and hospitals. The task force will hold its first meeting next Wednesday.
