Woman Breaches Computer Security: University of Alabama

A Childersburg woman breaches computer security with the hopes of stealing student loan funds from fellow University of Alabama students. The U.S. Attorney's Office has charged 22-year-old Briana Jackson with unauthorized access to a University of Alabama protected computer. Federal prosecutors on Friday filed a one-count information in U.S. District Court. The government, today, filed a plea agreement with Jackson in which she acknowledges the criminal activity and agrees to plead guilty to the charge and to pay more than $9,500 in restitution. The maximum sentence for accessing a protected computer is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
