Senator Announces Increased Law Enforcement Funding

More funding is coming to Etowah County to fight crime and prosecute accused criminals. Today, Senator Phil Williams and Representatives Mack Butler, Becky Nordgren, and Craig Ford announced an increase in funding for local law enforcement agencies at a press conference. The press conference took place at the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Todd Entrekin, District Attorney Jimmie Harp, and other local officials were also on hand for the announcement. Senator Williams says safe streets are the principal of this action. He says the increased funding is about transparency and no new taxes. The increased funding will come from a slight adjustment to the county’s existing 1-percent sales tax and money from the Tennessee Valley Authority.
