Munford High School has found a new football coach. This afternoon the Talladega County School Board approved Bill Smith to the position. Smith has served as head coach at Crossville High School and most recently at Shades Valley- where he helped turn the program into a contender. In his first season, the Mounties were 2-8 (2011). Two years later, Shades Valley was 10-2 and a top ten program in Class 6A. They were 9-3 last season with a third consecutive trip to the playoffs. Smith takes over for Will Wagnon who left the Lions for Class 7A Hazel Green last month. The move also secures another local vacancy. He joins Steven Chestnut (Sand Rock), Jonathan Nix (Pleasant Valley), Chris White (White Plains), and Mike Battles, Sr. (B.B. Comer) as new coaches in the area. Donoho and Ragland are still on the hunt for football head coaches.
