Gadsden Teen Shot After Attacking a Woman

A Gadsden teenager who police suspect of robbing and raping a 37-year-old woman is dead tonight. The woman was attacked in the 2100 block of Norris Avenue in her home last night. According to the Gadsden Police Department, the victim says 3 men kicked in her front door late last night and entered her home. One of the males forcibly raped her while the other 2 men ransacked her residence. The victim said that the 2 men ransacking her residence left but the man assaulting her stayed behind and demanded money.  Authorities say she told him a neighbor kept all of her money and the attacker forced the victim at gunpoint down the street to the neighbor’s home. When they reached the neighbor’s home the victim knocked and yelled for the neighbor to give her money. The neighbor realized what was happening and dialed 911.  The offender yelled for the neighbor to get off the phone and shot twice into the air before aiming the gun at the neighbor. The neighbor then fired one round at the offender, striking him in the chest.  Authorities say the offender died within seconds from the gunshot wound. Police and medics quickly arrived on scene. The victim was taken to the hospital. The neighbor was taken to police headquarters for questioning. He was eventually released. Gadsden police say the offender was a 17 year old juvenile offender.
