Cleburne County Baseball Preps For Hokes Bluff in 1st Round


Twenty-two local baseball teams have made it through the regular season and now enter the second season-also knowns as the state tournament. The Tigers know a little something about postseason baseball. The Tigers have made the playoffs in 11 straight years. This week they open the tournament with Hokes Bluff who also has a strong tradition on the diamond. The strength of this year's team has been pitching and defense. In their last ten wins, the Tigers have given up an average of 2.9 runs per game and posted five shutouts.

The Cleburne County-Hokes Bluff matchup is one of four that pit two local teams against each other. (Class 3A: Glencoe vs. Piedmont & Wellborn vs. Westbrook Christian. 4A: Cherokee County vs. Jacksonville & Cleburne County vs. Hokes Bluff).
