Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Calhoun County Schools gifted program students are learning about technology, robotics, elementary engineering principles, simple machines, and basic computer programming through the Alabama Lego Robotics Competition. Calhoun County Schools Gifted Teacher John Moore says students are taking part in a variety of hands-on lessons and projects that will help to immerse them in the world of the engineering and technology. Recently, the robotics team traveled to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa to compete in the state championships.  Pleasant Valley Elementary 5th Grader Nolan Wyatt says they solved separate missions and demonstrated class and the spirit of sportsmanship. This year they took 4 teams to the state championship and competed against 40 teams.  Three of their teams came home with trophies.
