Students and faculty at one Calhoun County High School are trying to cope with the death of a 16-year-old girl. Keaton Beam was killed when the Jeep Wrangler she was driving left the roadway and overturned. The crash happened early Sunday morning on Highway 9 four miles southwest of Jacksonville. Beam was a student at White Plains High School and a member of the golf team. Today, students gathered in a school-wide assembly to console each other and grieve in their own way. Guidance Counselor Angela Forbus says parents, the superintendent, and support personnel are supporting and encouraging students and giving them the proper tools to get through the next few days. Bradford Health Services has offered free counseling to the student body. Visitation for the public will be at Golden Springs Baptist Church on Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service for Keaton Beam will take place at Golden Springs Baptist Church Wednesday at 2:00pm.
