As you travel around Calhoun County for the next couple of weeks, you’ll notice that someone has been “Painting the Town Purple” with purple ribbons and banners. Volunteers with the Calhoun County Relay for Life hit Anniston and Oxford today with plans to spread out to other parts of the county over the next few of days. The purple ribbons are displayed to honor cancer survivors and to remind everyone to support the Relay for Life teams and their fundraisers as they prepare for this year’s relay event. The Calhoun County Relay for Life will be held on Friday, May 8th at the Oxford High School Football Stadium. The Survivor Reception starts at 5:00pm – with the Opening Ceremony set for 7 and the Luminaria Ceremony at 9. The final lap this year will be walked at Midnight.
