An Etowah County man convicted of killing a child will have to wait a while longer for a second trial. In 2009, Kevin Towles was sentenced to die after a jury convicted him of killing his girlfriend's 5-year-old son. Prosecutors said Towles beat Geonte Glass to death in 2006 for bringing home a bad report from school. A court later ruled that testimony from Towles' 15-year-old son created unfair prejudice and he was granted a new trial. The retrial was scheduled for next month but a judge has agreed to move it to November to allow a prosecutor time to recover from surgery.
