A local non-profit hosts a golf tournament for children who need a positive role model. Calhoun County’s Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Alabama held the golf tournament at Pine Hill County Club. Executive Director Valerie Shannon says it’s a wonderful way to give back to the community and support a good cause. Big Brother Roger Fair says God’s been good to them this year with the beautiful weather. And he’s also appreciative of all the good people and family that helped to get the event going. He says they understand that today is for the children they mentor. Fair says his role as a Big Brother is probably more fulfilling than what his Little Brother gets out of it. The tournament had 20 teams competing and offered door prizes donated by area businesses.
