Sen. Del Marsh Pushes for Lottery in Alabama
Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh has prepared draft legislation to allow a lottery and multiple casinos in the state. Marsh gave senators a copy of the bill Thursday to take home over the weekend. Marsh said it was the framework of the proposal and he is seeking input from senators. He said he might introduce the bill next week. The proposal would create a state lottery and allow casinos with table games and slot machines at the four dog tracks in Birmingham, Mobile and Macon and Greene Counties. The proposal would have to be approved by voters to become law. The bill also urged Governor Robert Bentley to seek a compact with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
