A very popular stage show is making another run in Gadsden – and it opens this weekend at The Ritz Theatre. Final preparations are underway as the Theatre of Gadsden gets set to bring “Smoke on the Mountain” back to Gadsden. The popular musical comedy is centered on a Saturday night gospel singing held at a rural church in North Carolina in 1938. Director Mike Beecham says that audiences will love the Sanders Family. Beecham says that when it was decided to do “Smoke on the Mountain” again, he immediately thought of local musician Glen Williams for the role of the father. Williams says that he has enjoyed the challenge but that preparations have been tough. The Theatre of Gadsden production of “Smoke on the Mountain” will premiere this Friday night at 7:30 at the Historic Ritz Theatre in Alabama City. Additional performances are scheduled for 7:30 on Saturday night and for 2:30 on Sunday afternoon. Performances will also take place on the same days and times on the following weekend. General Admission tickets are $14 each and are available online. Group tickets can be purchased at a discounted rate by calling 256.547.SHOW(7469). Tickets may also be purchased at the door as long as they are available.
