A Delta man is found guilty of manslaughter in the shooting death of his girlfriend.
A Calhoun County jury deliberated for just three hours Thursday before returning the verdict against 23-year-old John Pegg. Prosecutors said Pegg shot and killed 20-year-old Elizabeth Hartnett inside the couple's apartment in Weaver on December 19, 2013. The couple's roommate testified that the couple argued before the shooting and that Pegg attempted to take a shotgun away from Hartnett when it went off and shot the woman. Pegg could get between two and 20 years in prison for the manslaughter charge. He will be sentenced on June 30th.
