Local Law Enforcement Honored with Breakfast

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. Today, at the Anniston City Meeting Center the District Attorney’s Office and the Circuit Clerk’s Office partnered to bring breakfast to every certified officer in Calhoun County. The breakfast will continue every day for the rest of the week starting at 8:30am until 10:00am. Local law enforcement leadership and local community members are working together to serve the breakfast.There will be a candlelight vigil Tuesday at 8:00PM at the Oxford Lake Mayor’s Pavilion. And, there will be a Memorial Day service at the Anniston War Memorial Park.
