On Saturday, 22 teams from around the state will take the field for the Gridiron Challenge. Longtime coach Shannon Felder organized the event two years ago with four teams. It grew to 16 last year and after a successful run, 22 are on board to compete this weekend. Felder dropped by the TV24 studios on Wednesday to talk about the event and the work that goes into organizing the matchups.
Of the sixteen teams that participated in the Gridiron Challenge last year, 13 made the playoffs, nine made the second round and five made it to the quarterfinal round. In addition to the strong teams, there are also many great athletes set to play. Leeds quarterback Tadarryl Marshall is already committed to Tennessee and Felder hopes this will showcase even more talent to college coaches.
