The Calhoun County Schools are proud to recognize this month’s Employee of the Month. Christine Hollis has been the School Librarian for White Plains Elementary School for six years. She catalogues and circulates books, and creates activities for the classes that correspond to student curriculum. Hollis says she has the best job in education and has always loved books and the library. White Plains Elementary Principal Jonathan Gilbert has worked with Hollis for three years and says she has a great attitude and doesn’t complain. White Plains Elementary Reading Interventionist Susan Brown says Hollis works hard and deserves the award. She adds that she is not surprised at her selection. Hollis says it the school’s administration, her co-workers, and the kids that make where she works a great community. She adds that she is humbled by the recognition and says it’s an award she never expected to get. Hollis created a summer reading program that takes place one day a week on Thursdays in June and July from 10:00AM until 12:00PM. Officials say the program started 5 years ago and is a real success.
