Egg Prices Increase Due to Bird Flu Outbreak

The recent bird flu outbreak means the price of eggs is going up. Last week, the U-S-D-A said fewer eggs will be produced this year, because of bird flu in Minnesota, Iowa, and other Midwestern states. About 30 million of the more than 300 million egg-laying birds in the country had to be killed. While you may not have noticed a change at your supermarket yet, it’s having a big impact on companies that use breaker eggs. Experts say the wholesale price of breaker eggs has more than doubled since the bird flu outbreak became a serious problem in late April.
