Alabama State Troopers are reporting seven traffic-related deaths during the long Memorial Day weekend. The crashes included one pedestrian, three passenger vehicles, two motorcycles and an ATV. They happened in Talladega, Mobile, Lee, Clay, Russell, Tuscaloosa and Wilcox counties. According to troopers. the two motorcyclists killed were using helmets, but the ATV operator was not. None of the three people killed while traveling in vehicles was using a seat belt. In addition, Marine Patrol Troopers investigated one drowning. It happened Sunday on Lake Jordan in Elmore County. During the same time period last year, troopers reported just three accidental deaths.
