Controversy Over Community Garden

There’s a controversy brewing about a garden planted in East Gadsden on the corner of Hoke Street and Blythe. At today’s council meeting residents voiced their opinions for and against the establishment of the community garden. Gadsden resident Annette Borden said she was not officially informed about the garden. District 7 Councilman Ben Reed says it’s good that they have gotten the people together. He says now they can come to a consensus. The city’s community development department has been asked by the Gadsden City Council to come up with guidelines to regulate community gardens.
