Groundbreaking Held for New Weaver Community Center

The city of Weaver holds a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Community Center and Senior Center. Mayor Wayne Willis says the seniors of his city have deserved a new building for quite some time. He says that the 4,000 square foot facility will have a kitchen, a meeting area, and a designated area just for the seniors. He adds that it will also be the location where youth athletics can come together and meet. He says that construction will begin as early as this week. Weaver Senior Center Director Anna Warren says the new building will offer more advantages than the building they’ve been meeting at for more than 25 years. She says her more than 20 seniors who are all 60 and older are looking forward to the convenience of their new location. The new center will be right next to the existing Senior Center at 400 Anniston Street in Elwell Park.
