Oxford Police warn of the dangers of shopping with a large number of credit cards after a Pell City man tries to take an elderly woman’s purse at Walmart. According to Captain L-G Owens 22-year-old Darius Ellis is in the Calhoun County Jail today facing seven felony charges of second-degree theft of property, one for each credit card in the woman’s purse.  Owens says Ellis and three other people followed the woman out of the Oxford Wal-mart about 2 p.m. on Thursday. Owens says, as she loaded her bags into the car, Ellis allegedly grabbed her purse out of the shopping cart and ran toward Chick-fil-A. With the help of witnesses and a tracking dog, police found Ellis near Lester Street and U.S. 78 and arrested him.
