Bond Set For UAB Student

Bond is set at $500-thousand-dollars for a UAB student from DeKalb County who's accused of killing his mother during an argument. 22-year-old Tyler Blansit appeared in court this morning for a bond hearing in DeKalb County. According to sheriff's investigators, he confessed to killing his mother, Sherry Blansit, Friday at her home in Mentone. Sheriff Jimmy Harris says the college student told investigators that he beat his mother with a baseball bat during an argument over his bad grades. Blansit is charged with murder and he's being held in the DeKalb County Jail.
