Anniston businessman Del Marsh should know by next week if his two million dollar offer to buy and renovate The Victoria Inn on Quintard will be accepted by the Anniston City Council, which currently owns the building. Marsh, who serves as president pro tem of the Alabama Senate, has offered to buy the landmark business from the city and renovate both the hotel and restaurant. The city bought the property a year ago with the intent of selling it to a private owner who would promise to spend at least one and a half million dollars to improve the facilities. Marsh has said he wants to turn the hotel into a bed-and-breakfast operation and keep the kitchen operating as well. The City Council is expected to consider Marsh’s offer when it holds its regular meeting next Monday.
