Home Fire Preparedness Campaign
And speaking of smoke detectors – the Anniston Fire Department and the American Red Cross will be giving out free smoke detectors next week to residents who may have trouble affording one. It’s part of a Home Fire Preparedness Campaign, which is designed to cut fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent in the next five years. In addition to the smoke detectors, Anniston residents can also receive a free fire safety and disaster preparedness presentation, which will take about 15 minutes. That program is scheduled for next Friday, June 19th, and you can call the Red Cross at (256) 236-0391 for more information.
