Smoke Detector Batteries Now Have Wi-Fi

A new Wi-Fi battery is pledging to make your smoke detector less annoying. The roost is a nine-volt battery that notifies your smartphone when your smoke detector goes off.  Not only that, it will silence your smoke alarm from an App, and send low-battery alerts to your phone.  That could mean the end to middle of the night chirps coming from your smoke detector.  Roost says the $35 battery lasts five years, with replacement batteries costing just $15. The battery is now available for pre-order on Amazon-Dot-Com.  It’s expected to begin shipping in September.
