Supreme Court Extends Gay Marriage Nationwide
The Supreme Court declared today that same-sex couples have a right to marry anywhere in the United States.The five to four decision comes after two decades of litigation over gay rights. Alabama and 13 other states banning same sex unions are affected by today's ruling. Same sex couples already could marry in 36 states and the District of Columbia. The court's ruling means the remaining 14 states will have to stop enforcing their bans on same-sex marriage.
