Ruling Against EPA Pollution Rules
Today marks the end of the term for the U-S Supreme Court. And on their last day they made 3 important decisions on three separate cases. It is a loss for the Obama Administration today. A five-to-four decision, the Supreme Court ruled against some air pollution rules imposed by the Environmental Protection Agency. Justices said the EPA unreasonably interpreted the Clean Air Act when it set toxic pollutant emission limits on power plants without first considering the costs on the industry to do so. 23 states and some in the industry joined in the suit against the Federal Government. Their lawyers argued that the regulations imposed great expenses on consumers and threatened to put some electric utilities out of business.
