Use of Lethal Injection Drug
A controversial lethal injection drug can be used for executions. That’s the decision of the U-S Supreme Court. The Justices ruled in a five-to-four vote that the drug in question does not violate a constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment. Three death row inmates brought the challenge, saying the drug does not generate a deep, coma-like unconsciousness. Six states use the drug as an option for lethal injection executions. The decision comes amid growing debate about the death penalty.
