The Last Day for JSU President Meehan

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

President William Meehan’s term as President of Jacksonville State University for nearly 16 years ends today.  Dr. Meehan has served Jacksonville State University with passion, dedication and integrity for 40 years. Officials say during that time Meehan has touched the lives of generations of students and countless individuals and organizations in the region.  59-year-old John Beehler, the former dean of business at Pittsburgh’s Robert Morris University, will succeed Meehan as the 12th president since the school’s start in 1883 on Wednesday.   The JSU board of trustees named Beehler the university’s next president in May. It will be sometime next year before an event recognizing the university’s change of leadership takes place.
