This weekend plenty of people will be using fireworks to celebrate the July 4th holiday. TV24 spoke to the owner of Crazy Ken’s Fireworks to educate viewers on the safe and responsible use of consumer fireworks. Owner Lamar Sims has been in business since 1981 and he says although you should prepare for a fun and great time, there is also a lot of responsibility. Sims says people don’t have to worry about grass this year because the area has had plenty of rain. But, he does suggest keeping a fire extinguisher near or even a water hose. The National Council on Fireworks Safety recommends that you only buy consumer fireworks from a licensed store, tent or stand. Never buy fireworks from an individual's house or from someone on the street. They say such devices are likely illegal explosives or professional fireworks that can seriously injure you.
