A Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy saves the lives of a mother and three children from a burning vehicle…Yesterday, Deputy Benjamin Kiser was patrolling in Saks when he observed a car in a ditch on its side on the corner of Saks Road and Hughes Street. The Deputy went to the vehicle and found the mother and three children inside the car. The car burst into flames while the deputy was assessing their injuries. He began using his fire extinguisher to keep the flames at bay. According to officials Deputy Kiser’s actions warrant him to be awarded accommodations for the Sheriff’s Office Life Saving and Valor medals…The Deputy adds that there was a bystander who assisted in the rescue. Anniston Fire Department responded and extinguished the vehicle fire.
