NYSE Suffers Computer Glitch

The New York Stock Exchange computer glitch issue halts trading today for three hours. It happened shortly after 11:30 AM. The Department of Homeland Security says there is “No sign of malicious activity.” All other exchanges, including the NASDAQ were operating. The F-B-I reached out to the New York Stock Exchange to offer assistance. The New York Stock Exchange maintains it was just a “technical glitch.” A White House official says President Obama was briefed on the situation. Trading resumed on the New York Stock Exchange just after 3:00PM. The Wall Street Journal’s website also went down today…and United Airlines’ computer system malfunctioned this morning. United Airlines says their issue “Was not the work of hackers,” and not connected to the glitch at the New York Stock Exchange.
