Summer Blood Drive

The American Red Cross says donating blood is a simple thing to do, but it can make a big difference in the lives of others. Our area Red Cross is hosting a Summer Blood Drive with WVOK at its location in the Quintard Mall. Officials say blood donations fulfill the needs of people for the safest, most reliable and most cost-effective blood services through voluntary donations. American Red Cross Communications Manager Kristen Stancil says blood donors are ordinary people from every walk of life. But they share one thing – a generous spirit, a desire to give back to their community and help others. Stancil says blood donors play an integral role in the delivery of modern healthcare. Many life-saving medical treatments and procedures involve blood transfusions and would not be possible without a safe and reliable blood supply.The blood drive will continue tomorrow from noon until 6:00PM. Officials say, every two seconds someone receives a unit of blood. They add that the American Red Cross says it is their mission to meet that need. For more information on blood donation visit
