Special Session Begins

Governor Robert Bentley says lawmakers need to "step up and be leaders" as they begin a special session on the general fund budget. Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh says he will introduce lottery and casino legislation this special session. Marsh said he is not looking at the lottery bill as a solution to next year's shortfall. The special session began Monday afternoon. Bentley is asking lawmakers to approve $310 million in revenue to fund state agencies to avoid deep cuts in the fiscal year that begins October 1ST. The special session can last for up to 30 calendar days.
