Failure of Duty by a Guard

A Calhoun County Sheriff’s Officer is accused of having cell phone conversations with inmates at the Calhoun County Jail. According to Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson, 22-year-old Officer WyTeria Scott was arrested and charged with Failure of Duty by a Guard after an investigation was launched in an attempt to determine how a cell phone was brought into the Calhoun County Jail. Apparently the cell phone was inside the jail for nearly one week. Scott verified that she had conversations with at least one inmate during that time period. Scott denies bringing the phone into the jail. She never notified the jail administrator or any staff member that inmates had the telephone inside the facility. Scott was booked into the jail and released on a $3000 bond.
