DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris changes the sheriff office’s policy on firearms. Today, the sheriff issued a press release saying the recent violent attack in Chattanooga prompted him to make the change. On Friday, he called a supervisor meeting to ready his office to raise money to buy every certified deputy a backup weapon to carry concealed at all times. Harris says he doesn’t agree with laws and policies that bar military personnel from having weapons available to protect themselves with. He also believes that citizens should be prepared to protect themselves. Sheriff Harris ended his release by asking citizens to report anything out of the ordinary to the sheriff’s office or your local police department.
