Etowah County District Attorney Jimmie Harp loses his battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Harp served as an assistant district attorney for 10 years before being elected as Etowah County’s District Attorney in November 2004. 49-year-old Harp was instrumental in the formation and success of Zerometh, an anti-meth program implemented by the Alabama District Attorney’s Association. He is the father of four children and resided in Gadsden with his wife Cassie Firestone Harp. Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said he worked with Harp for more than 20 years. Entrekin says quote, "Jimmie Harp was a great District Attorney who fought hard prosecuting thousands of cases for the citizens of Etowah County. He will be greatly missed by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, employees of the District Attorney’s Office and citizens of Etowah County…From drug cases to capital murder cases his dedication to the people was unwavering. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."
